Star Trail Photography
Normally, astrophotographers & those taking night time landscapes want to avoid taking any photo that shows the movement of the earth. Trackers & mounts are designed to mimic the star’s rotation so that you have pin point stars in all of your photos.
Star trails intentionally uses the moving stars to create stunning lines in the sky. The reds, blues, oranges and occasion greens show up against the clear dark skies of the cottage.
There are normally two ways of taking star trails – super long exposures that can overheat your sensor and prone to error or stacking lots of shorter frames. The latter has been my method, and it’s yielded some great landscape astrophotography with little effort.
