Messier 78, Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula
Messier 78, Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula captured in late December 2019

Messier 78 – Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula

Messier 78 has the more interesting name of “Casper the Friendly Ghost” Nebula. If you tilt your head to the right, the green portion of the nebula looks like a sheet covered head with 2 eyes cut out.

I captured M78 a few weeks ago, but with the near Full Moon I wasn’t happy with the amount of detail. With Saturday night’s near New Moon I picked up on the reds of the hydrogen gas around the Orion Complex.
